Empowering or Not, J. Lo & Shakira Brought the HEAT to Super Bowl LIV!
Ladies, come on now, we can do better. I missed the Super Bowl and halftime show last night with us traveling but here’s what I learned from my news feed… J.Lo wasn’t wearing enough clothes. They both looked “like strippers”.It was “horrible”.The whole performance was “degrading to women”.The singing “wasn’t that great”.It was too “over the top”.“I turned it off. Ridiculous.”I even read words like “trashy” and “gross”… ARE. YOU. FREAKING. KIDDING. ME????? Look at us, ladies. Here we are… with things like “lift each other up”. “Fix each others crowns”. “Empower one another”. “Build each other up not tear each other down.” But when a pair of women, who are…

February Love Your Body Wellness Challenge
If I asked you to name 50 things you love… how long would it take for you to say “myself”? One of my favorite challenges I run annually is our February Love Your Body, Love Yourself, Self-Love challenge. A 4 week immersion into self-love, daily affirmations and journaling, a book club, and a month long focus on making ourselves a priority. I’m not going to sugar coat it… this time of year is challenging. We set goals, we struggle. We’re feeling crappy because the weather sucks. It’s too cold. We may carry a little regret from spending too much or indulging too much over the holidays, and our need to prioritize…

Easy Loaded Potato Veggie Soup (Kid Approved)
One of the best compliments I think I’ve ever received came from my ten year old after she took a bite… “Mom! This is delicious! You should open a restaurant and call it ‘Mommy’s Soup Kitchen’ and serve soups just like this!” She doesn’t know I secretly would love to open a little cafe with hearty and healthy soups, gourmet sandwiches, and all kinds of coffee and desserts. But that dream exhausts me to the core thinking about it. And I’m much more content whipping up delicious little family friendly recipes with a healthy twist in the comfort of my own kitchen, and sharing them with friends on my blog.…

What They Don’t Tell You When You Become a Parent…
Here’s your baby. Now go out into the world and raise her right. Make sure you breastfeed. Cloth diapers are better for the environment. Feed her organic baby foods. Sleep when the baby sleeps. Enjoy your maternity leave. Don’t give up your career though. Make sure you get enough sleep. Don’t complain. Suck it up on the post partum hormones and don’t let anyone see you cry. Pumping in the bathroom is no big deal, so don’t act like it is. Get your baby into a routine. Better get back into your prepregancy jeans right away. Don’t wear that spit up stained shirt in public, people might judge. Cover up your…

Did I prepare her enough…
“Mommy, are you crying?! Is everything okay?” Maybe it’s because we’d just finishing reading “On the First Day of Kindergarten”… Or maybe it was that as I walked into their rooms to tuck them in I saw their backpacks lined up against the wall, ready for a new year of memories… And this time, there were three. Three. Full-time school. No longer home with momma. Mid-day naps. Out to lunch because we can. Park play date just for fun on a Tuesday. Snuggles on the couch watching movies while it’s raining. Off to kindergarten with her big sisters… backpacks. As a parent we know the milestones are coming. We know…

25 Rules for Mothers of Daughters
Believe in her. It is the moments that she does not believe in herself that she will need you to believe enough for both of you. Whether it is a spelling test in the first grade, a big game or recital, a first date, or the first day of college…remind her of the independent and capable woman you have taught her to be.

Nutrition Simplified- Achieving Balance and Sustainability
Nutrition is my jam. Now, anyway. It wasn’t always. Yeah, I ate “healthy”. Lean Cuisines and Diet Coke used to be my jam. I paid zero attention to what I was putting in my body, but fully believed that a 1500 calorie salad was a good lunch choice and could nearly eat my weight in steak, baked potato, and buttery green beans at dinner… protein, carb, veggie, right? About 5 years ago I committed to and dove into a fitness and nutrition program that would forever change the landscape of how I approached my nutrition. One that allowed for balance. See, I was always under the impression you could have…

When you bet on yourself, it’s hard to lose… I am soooo pumped to bring you my second ever “HEALTH BET” Biggest Loser style Health and Fitness Challenge! This is a 30 Day Group dedicated to helping you get results and creating healthier habits that last long term. This is a great jumpstart in motivation and mindset going into the spring season. I was tired of being tired. Tired of being out of shape and…

Does it Make Me a Bad Mommy if…
Does it make me a bad mommy if I look forward to putting my kids to bed so I can have some quiet and not a constant array of random questions? Wine optional? Does it make me a bad mommy if I sit in the car for an extra 3 minutes after we get home and send the kids inside so I can finish listening to a song with words that aren’t kid-appropriate, reminiscing of days that I could sleep past 7 am with no other humans to worry about? Does if make me a bad mommy if I tell them we’re out of chocolate chips only to pull the…
