    2022 Summer Bucket List

Summer is Here!!! And it’s time for our Bucket List! The annual #RobertsFamilySummerBucketList is here and we are ready for it!! Years ago when these kids were tiny, we started this tradition of creating a bucket list of all the adventures we want to do around the St. Louis area during the summer. What started as a way to keep us all busy during the summer and a reason to explore more of the city and all that it has to offer, turned into an annual tradition that we all look forward to each year. I read a quote once that said, “We only get 18 summers with our kids. Might…

    Parenting Reality…

Sitting in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale with two kids with a skin rash and all 3 of them with ear infections. (It’s fine. Everything’s fine. We’re fine. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣) Sipping a mini bottle of complimentary hotel wine out of plastic cups- not because they feel sorry for us, but because our room wasn’t ready when we arrived and it took 3 calls and 2 trips to the front desk to get the sheets and pillows we needed. In case you thought this was all glam and rainbows and sunshine, sorry to disappoint. The reality of it is, we’re whispering, texting each other memes, recapping our vacation, and trying to keep…

What They Don’t Tell You When You Become a Parent…

Here’s your baby. Now go out into the world and raise her right. Make sure you breastfeed. Cloth diapers are better for the environment. Feed her organic baby foods. Sleep when the baby sleeps. Enjoy your maternity leave. Don’t give up your career though. Make sure you get enough sleep. Don’t complain. Suck it up on the post partum hormones and don’t let anyone see you cry. Pumping in the bathroom is no big deal, so don’t act like it is. Get your baby into a routine. Better get back into your prepregancy jeans right away. Don’t wear that spit up stained shirt in public, people might judge. Cover up your…

    Did I prepare her enough…

“Mommy, are you crying?! Is everything okay?” Maybe it’s because we’d just finishing reading “On the First Day of Kindergarten”… Or maybe it was that as I walked into their rooms to tuck them in I saw their backpacks lined up against the wall, ready for a new year of memories… And this time, there were three. Three. Full-time school. No longer home with momma. Mid-day naps. Out to lunch because we can. Park play date just for fun on a Tuesday. Snuggles on the couch watching movies while it’s raining. Off to kindergarten with her big sisters… backpacks. As a parent we know the milestones are coming. We know…

Does it Make Me a Bad Mommy if…

Does it make me a bad mommy if I look forward to putting my kids to bed so I can have some quiet and not a constant array of random questions? Wine optional? Does it make me a bad mommy if I sit in the car for an extra 3 minutes after we get home and send the kids inside so I can finish listening to a song with words that aren’t kid-appropriate, reminiscing of days that I could sleep past 7 am with no other humans to worry about? Does if make me a bad mommy if I tell them we’re out of chocolate chips only to pull the…

    Nothing More to Give

It happens. It’s one of those days. When bedtimes hit and we just want to sink into the couch because we literally have nothing more to give. When one last toddler dictated command might just send us over the ledge. “Lord, just give me the patience” I whispered one too many times today. It starts with an awake-too-early morning. You know the one. When you anticipate the youngest sleeping in because she was up too late needing that last drink of water, but that last drink of water late last night had her up before the sun needing to “go potty right now”.  If she sees a wink of sunlight,…

Parenting… Am I Doing it Right?

When you become a parent for the first time, you begin to question everything you do in relation to your child.  I created this new precious life and I don’t want to screw it up.  When Emma was born, she stole our hearts.  She turned our world upside down and she had us all wrapped around her little finger.  The questions began in my head almost immediately.  Does she need to eat?  What does that sound mean?  Does she recognize me?  Then, how long has she been in that wet diaper?  Can I feed her fruits yet?  How important are baby music classes?   What’s her favorite song going to…
