Luke and Ashley’s Body Beast Results

Find someone who shares your passion and do it together.  My husband, Luke, really started pushing me to do more heavy lifting about a year ago.  I was scared.  Like a lot of women, I didn’t want to lift too much and have “dude” muscles!

Ok first of all, if you’ve never really lifted before, it’s going to be pretty hard to get “dude” muscles. But it’s entirely possible to build some great definition, strength, and leanness while boosting your metabolism by increasing your muscle mass.  This means that the more muscle you have the harder your body works.  You burn more calories at rest!

We took the plunge and jumped into Body Beast together.  Best. Decision. Ever. We started December 4th.  It’s a 12 week program. We have a set of weights in our basement and were able to do the entire program at home.  You can get away with a stability ball, resistance band if you have one, and a set of dumbbells. I used anywhere from 5 to 25lbs.  Luke used up to 40 lbs.

We followed the DVD workouts (anywhere from 10 minutes- abs to 50 minutes total) but average about 35-40 minutes from start to finish.  The way the program is set up is designed to help you whether you want to lean out a bit or if you want to build more muscle.  There is a Lean Beast which incorporates more cardio and Huge Beast which focuses more on just lifting (both included).  Three phases take you through building, bulking, and leaning out.  We both opted for the Huge Beast  šŸ™‚ The workouts are not for the faint of heart but you can modify them at your will with lighter weights if you need to.  I fell in love almost instantly.  I love feeling myself get stronger.  I love seeing my results in the mirror and having muscles where before I used to have stick legs and skinny arms.

LUKE’S BODY BEAST RESULTS

Luke’s results blew me away!  He’s always been active and worked out 4-5 days each week.  But he decided to get serious, take the nutrition to the next level and it clearly paid off.  This was after two rounds and actually prepared him to do his first men’s physique competition at age 34.  He dropped a total of 15.9 lbs of fat, had a 7 lb muscle gain, and an overall drop of 10% body fat.  The nutrition plan is simple to follow too.  It tells you how much to eat based on your goals.  Do you want to build?  Lean out?  There are different ranges but it’s all the same plan.  You eat X amount of proteins, X amounts of carbs, fats, and so on.  I’m just so amazed by his results!

ASHLEY’S BODY BEAST RESULTS

This was after my second round of results.  I was completely impressed with the change in my arms and in my back.   And I had abs again! After 3 babies those abs are my new pride and joy!  I have dropped about 10 % body fat from December until now.  I’ve been eating anywhere from 1,800 calories up to 3,000 depending on the day and averaging about 2,500 each day.  This goes to show you that you absolutely need to eat while working out, not only to fuel your body but it helps you build muscle as well.

NANBF COMPETITION JUNE 2015

These results are from one year of hard work and three rounds of Body Beast.  I’ve been sticking to the program and have been staying in the bulking phase for the last 8 weeks with a goal of putting on more muscle.  I love that the program is flexible, the workouts are simple, easily explained, and very effective.  I’ve never seen my muscles grow like this before and my husband said the same thing about himself.  That the nutrition was the game changer as well.  You can work out as many times each week but if you’re slacking on nutrition then you’re not going to get the results you really want.  We’ve made some lifestyle modifications but are happy with how we look and have never felt better!

In fact, thanks to Body Beast we took our results to the next level and competed in our first competition as a couple in June 2015 (more on that later!).  I had done my first bikini competition in April but we decided the accountability of doing one together would be that much more of a motivator.  I can’t say if there’s going to be any more competitions from us in the future but fitness has brought us even closer as a couple and being able to support one another on this journey has been truly incredible.

We believe in a healthy lifestyle and accountability to reach your goals.  If you would like to be included in my next fitness and nutrition accountability group and/or would like more information about starting your fitness journey with Body Beast, please complete the following application.  Thank you for reading about our journey and we look forward to working with you!

So, do you only use Dumbbells, or did you invest in the curl bar? And, to verify, the heaviest weight you used is 25lbs? (So two 25 lb Dumbbells?)

Hi Hil. We do have Dumbbells & a curl bar. You can get away without having a curl bar if you need to but we bought ours for cheap off craigslist.
I presently use up to 40lbs but that's on leg day. My husband presses 40lbs for dumbbell chest days. It does depend on your current level of fitness- if you've been lifting for a while, you may need to increase your weights. If you're new to this program, you'll want to ease in and find a level of ability and increase as you can.
Have you started Body Beast yet or are you considering it?
